Channel Collective was established by saxophonist Jon Thompson and drummer Justin Leigh. Initially, the duo began as an all-improvisation recording project but has since evolved into a collaborative effort that includes several prominent jazz musicians from Philadelphia. Over the past five years, Channel Collective has released six albums, curated numerous engaging live performances, and produced multiple singles featuring artists such as Bakithi Kumalo, who is best known as Paul Simon’s longtime bass player.
For Channel Collective’s debut performance, Soul Revue with Bad Bad PJ Brown on November 15, 2026, the duo is excited to feature the iconic Philly soul singer PJ Brown. Miss Brown embodies soul with her rich, powerful, and earthy vocals, as well as her tough, gritty, and vibrant persona. She leads her own band, P.J. Brown and Her Resistance, and has been a guest vocalist for the legendary Martha Graham Cracker for 10 years. Miss Brown delivers real, true, and powerful performances that you won’t want to miss!
Joining Channel Collective and PJ Brown for this occasion are celebrated jazz musicians in their own right: guitar wizard Greg Snyder, known for his work with Philly Pops and the Greg Snyder Trio, and the sensational Dave Mattock on keyboards, who plays with Funk Tap and the Dave Mattock Trio.
